[Employment Opportunity] Six week YCW position – Curatorial
Barkerville Historic Town, the largest Historic Site in Western North America, has up to two positions available for students that will provide exciting opportunities to learn about British Columbia’s history in a unique environment.
Job Title: Curatorial Assistant (Research and Presentation)
Hourly pay rate: $14.00 plus 4% holiday pay, 35 hours/week
Anticipated term*: May 4 to August 21, 2015 (16 weeks)
Description: This is a summer position that will provide practical, hands on experience for a student in the areas of museums and heritage. Preference will be given to those working towards a degree in history, anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, or related sciences and who are able to demonstrate an academic interest or practical experience in the conservation of artifacts and the preservation of history. Duties may include cleaning and caretaking of exhibition and storage spaces, data input and cataloguing of artifacts, digitization of archival materials, completion of a research project, caretaking of garden areas, and assisting in other site activities such as special events.
Applicants must be full time students planning to return to full-time studies in the fall of 2015. All applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30 and legally entitled to work in Canada.
