Barkerville welcomes more than 3000 visitors opening week; admission still “pay what you can”

 

Brief

  • Barkerville Historic Town & Park opened for the 2016 season on Thursday, May 19
  • A record-setting 3300 guests visited the site in its first seven days of operation, compared to the same seven day period recorded each year over the past ten years
  • Nearly 2400 of those guests arrived and/or stayed through the three day Victoria Day long weekend
  • Two sold out sittings of Royal Tea (with Royalty) were enjoyed at the Wake Up Jake Restaurant on Monday, May 23 in celebration of the Victoria Day holiday, with “Queen Victoria” as special guest
  • Barkerville’s next seasonal special event is the Barkerville Heritage Trust Annual General Meeting and Theatre Royal Gala premiere, which takes place Saturday, June 18
  • Admission to Barkerville will continue to be “pay what you can” until Tuesday, May 31
