Welcome to an Old Fashioned Victorian Christmas
at Barkerville Historic Town & Park

December 9th, 10th, and 11th
10:00 am to 4:00 pm


Take an exciting sleigh ride with Barnard’s Express Stage Lines (Map #24).

Partake in the delicious delights of Victorian home baking at the Wendle House (Map #18).

Join Miss Florence Wilson on a guided Town Tour of Barkerville’s snow-laden front street, starting at the Activities Pavilion (Daily at 11:00 am; Map #4b).

Visit with Louis A. Blanc Photographic Gallery in the Barkerville School (Map #32) and have your picture taken with Barkerville’s old fashioned Father Christmas!

Barkerville’s own Mr. John Bowron, Overlander will present a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Wesleyan Methodist Church (Daily at 1:00 pm; Map #7) for a suggested donation of $5 per person.

Add your voice (or lend an ear) to spontaneous carolling at various times throughout the site!

Decorate your own, old fashioned Christmas Gingerbread Man from the Goldfield Bakery

The Shamrock Tube Run will be OPEN from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 9th, and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 10th and Monday, December 11th

SUNDAY ONLY: Listen to the exquisite sounds of the Q City Singers as they present a chorus of old-fashioned Christmas Carols at the Wesleyan Methodist Church (Map #7) at 12:00 noon.

SUNDAY ONLY: Church services at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church (Map #12) at 3:00 pm.


The Goldfield Bakery (Map #26) is serving soup and sandwiches for lunch, as well as a variety of tasty Christmas treats. Now is a great time to stock up on your holiday baking! Additional seating available for Bakery customers across the street at the Wake Up Jake Restaurant (Map #25).

Cameron & Ames Blacksmith Shop (Map #20) will ring in the holidays with fine hand-forged ironwork for that special Christmas present.

Mason & Daly General Merchants (Map #46), Strouss Dry Goods & Provisions (Map #47), and A. McPherson’s Watchmaker & Jeweller (Map #43) all have unique Christmas gift ideas.

Frank J. McMahon’s Confectionery (Map #9) has fudge, popcorn, and an assortment of sweet stocking stuffers.

Christmas cards, souvenir headlines, and custom printed items can be ordered at the Cariboo Sentinel Newspaper (Map #54).

There are some fine local products and discount annual passes for sale by the Friends of Barkerville at the Barkerville Gift Store in the Visitors’ Reception Centre (Map #4).

The Barkerville Cafe (Map #4) has SPECIAL Old Fashioned Victorian Christmas hours: Saturday, December 9: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM (Christmas buffet), Sunday, December 10: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM (regular menu), and Monday, December 11: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (regular menu)!


The King House Bed & Breakfast (Map #14), Kelly House Bed & Breakfast ( Map #109), and the St. George Hotel are all open in Barkerville, and the Wells Hotel, Hubs Motel, Mountain Thyme Getaway and Tomato House Guest House are available in the nearby District of Wells.
