Employment Opportunity – Curatorial Assistant: Collections Care (Summer Position)

Barkerville Historic Town & Park, the largest historic site in British
Columbia, has up to two positions available for students that will
provide exciting opportunities to learn about British Columbia’s history
in a unique environment.

Hourly pay rate: $15.00 plus 4% holiday pay, 35 hours/week
Anticipated term: May 14 to August 31, 2018 (16 weeks) *

Description: This is a summer student position that will provide practical, hands-on experience for a student in the areas of museums and heritage. The ideal candidate will be a university or college student enrolled in a field of study that supports research into history, material culture, and built heritage. Preference will be given to a student in the field of Museum Studies, Cultural Heritage Management, Conservation, Archaeology, or History. The student must be mature, independent, have good communication skills, and be prepared to live in a relatively isolated community. In addition, they must be physically able to perform rigorous duties at times, and must be a self-starter who has ambitions to succeed in the museum field.
