  • Orientation and supervision – How the position fits into the company structure:
  • Position reports to the Public Programming & Global Media Lead;
  • Position works within the Preservation & Presentation department, under the leadership of
    the department Manager
  • Works as a team member with all Barkerville Heritage Trust site staff and contractors
    involved with heritage site operational activities;
  • Performs all operational duties based upon industry standards and guided by the Standards
    and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada to ensure the continued
    protection and conservation of Barkerville Historic Town

Main tasks or responsibilities – Core duties of the position, including but not limited to:

  • Provides research, support, development, and delivery of digital multimedia stories;
  • Researches, plans, and develops an online platform to present interactive “Barkerville
    stories”to the public, in collaboration with production team;
  • Works collaboratively to develop software, graphic design, presentation, user experience,
    and revenue-generation for multimedia stories;
  • Works with the Public Programming & Global Media Lead to develop narrative, scripts,
    character roles, lighting, sound, staging, shots, and other elements involved in the recording
    of multimedia stories;
  • Works with the Curator to ensure heritage values and historic authenticity are upheld in all
    initiatives;
  • Works with the Public Programming & Global Media Lead to recommend, and implement
    new multimedia project initiatives;
  • Joins regular departmental meetings;
  • Participates in cross-departmental project planning to provide feedback;
  • Reads and understands Barkerville’s policies and procedures;
  • Performs flexible and varying duties depending on the shifting needs of the organization and
    its staff members

The position requires that the following laws, regulations, policies and procedures be adhered to:

  • The Barkerville Heritage Trust Safety Management and Accident Prevention Program;
  • The Barkerville Heritage Trust’s policies and procedures;
  • Adherence to the Job Performance Expectations of the position;
  • Performs all operational duties based upon industry standards and guided by the occupation
    health and safety regulations

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities: Requirements needed to perform the job:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, technical diploma, or equivalent industry training;
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience technology industry;
  • Proficient with interactive online multimedia delivery;
  • Ability to work on-site at Barkerville Historic Town & Park;
  • Ability to work effectively on project teams, both as a leader and a member;
  • Experience in working collaboratively and building relationships with stakeholders and
    partners to archive common goals;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written and ability to
    adapt style to different audiences;
  • Demonstrated initiative, self-motivation, planning and organizational skills.
